From September 25 to September 27, 2009, Zurich hosts again the international elite of the freestyle sports scene at Zurich Landiwiese. Top-class action is guaranteed this year as well: with snowboarder Stefan Gimpl, freestyle skier Jacob Wester and skateboarder Sandro Dias already three of the freestyle.champs from 2008 have confirmed their participation.

For the 15th time, the international top stars of the freestyle sports scene present freestyle sport – a class of one’s own. After first top names have confirmed their participation in this event, a display of fireworks at the best freestyle sports action is also guaranteed for the year 2009.

In the snowboarding, Stefan Gimpl (AUT) and Stephan Maurer (SUI), the winners from 2008 and 2007 respectively will face each other. "Ever since I could win 2007, the event has become even more special for me. I hope that I can use the home field advantage again this year in my favour", Maurer said. Besides Maurer, two additional Swiss will compete with Reto Kestenholz and Nicolas Müller. Over the past years, Kestenholz has convinced over and over again of top results. In the scene, Müller is considered to be a superstar and will inspire the Landiwiese audience with his distinctive style. The Finn, Peetu Piiroinen may also qualify for the victory. The just 21-year-old looks for remarkable successes despite his young age, recently the overall victory of the TTR World Snowboard Tour 2008/09.

Freeski: Duel between Schiller and Wester The winners from 2007 and 2008 will also face each other in the discipline Freeski: the winner from 2007, TJ Schiller (CAN) is particularly keen on capturing the victory. Although he was still injured just one year ago, Schiller will do everything in his power to make it difficult for Jacob Wester (SWE) to repeat the victory. Very promising is also the participation of Norwegian Andreas Håtveit. Victories at the X-Games belong to Håtveits Palmarès amongst others. With Elias and Andri Ambühl, promising Swiss will participate. The two brothers were exceptional with their double win at the Australian Open this past season. «To participate in is very special, particularly for the Swiss. We will do everything in our power to stand out with top results», the elder of the brothers, Andri Ambühl said.

FMX: Mat Rebeaud keen on capturing the victory After missing the opportunity to capture a 4th victory in a row in 2008, the FMX rider Mat Rebeaud is even more excited to capture a further freestyle.champ title. "I am pleased to participate again in and I am particularly looking forward to the Swiss audience!" Rebeaud said. His contenders in Zurich are no other than Petr Pilat (CZE) and Lance Coury (USA). Pilat has proved his strength last year at when he was ranked third. For Coury, the 2009 event will be his first one. However, the 19-year old American already flew over Swiss terrain and won over recently at the Swatch Free4Style in Estavayer-le-Lac when he was ranked second.

Skateboarding: Public’s darling Sandro Dias will also participate Public’s darling Sandro Dias will be able to prove his skills again in the halfpipe. The Brazilian not only reached out for the title of the freestyle.champ skateboard last year, but also won the disciplines – overall Crossover Session, where the audience is appointing the winner. "I like the event and the audience in Zurich very much and I am dying to be back in September", Dias commented on his participation. With Renton Millar (AUS) and Jürgen Horrwarth (GER) two other experienced halfpipe skateboarders confirmed their participation in Zurich, whereas Millar presently leads the WCS world ranking (World Cup Skateboarding).

Nothing really sums up this event better than the Crossover Champs on Saturday night.
