Last weekend the final elooa BACKCOUNTRY FREESTYLE CAMP presented by NITRO SNOWBOARDS took place in Silvretta Montafon.
Under bright sunshine and with ideal spring conditions, the 17 participants enjoyed an outstanding backcountry experience with local and Nitro Pro Thomas „Fuego“ Feuerstein. Check-In was on Friday at the Explorer Hotel Montafon. After a delicious dinner and a “get together” with the elooa Snowboard Guides and Thomas Feuerstein all campers were equipped with avalanche airbags and avalanche transceivers from our partner BCA BACKCOUNTRY ACCESS. Also the participants had the possibility to rent NITRO SNOWBOARDS for free before they got an introduction into the upcoming weekend.
On Saturday first groups were split up into their riding skills and backcountry experience before we started with a detailed avalanche safety training. After that we went prepared into the backcountry were our guides chose the best lines and runs for everyone. From technically demanding runs with cliffs and gullies up to simpler runs everything was there. All groups were moving in the same area, like that all could enjoy the backcountry experience together and everyone was able to watch Snowboard Pro Thomas Feuerstein and the elooa Guides in demanding lines and big cliff jumps.
Around noon when it got warmer we had a kicker session for all. The tired legs were regenerated in the afternoon in the Explorer Hotel’s sauna and the batteries were refilled up with a delicious dinner. To process from the experiences of the day and to give advice, elooa Guide and Freeride World Tour rider Irian van Helftern gave a keynote in how to pick lines and behave save in the backcountry.
The final Sunday started with warm up runs in the Freeride Cross of the Silveretta Montafon area before we went again into the backcountry to ride lines and jump cliffs. As a highlight we built a proper backcountry jump with all campers together. Everyone learned the basics of building and riding backcountry jumps. After initial difficulties with the first jumps all participants quickly improved and even took new tricks back home. An all around successful weekend ended Sunday afternoon.
We look forward to many backcountry adventures in the upcoming winter. Until then we head back to the park for the elooa CAMP GOOD TIMES by NITRO SNOWBOARDS from May 4th till May 8th 2016 at Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn. The last spots are now available on www.elooa.com.
