DC’s Rail not Jail Contest

For the third year in a row it’s time for some of Scandinavia’s finest snowboarders to go and take over the quaint town of Kumla on the last day of April. As in previous years, invitations have already been sent out to riders in other parts of Europe, taunting them to show what they’ve got against the onslaught of young and upcoming Swedish Jib kids.

The site of the event has remained the same with Kumlasjön Park, located smack in the centre of the town, just a five minutes walk from the train and bus stations and the hotel. The park has a”natural slope” which will be re-designed into an innovative contest arena with lots of rails, boxes, bonks etc.

This year it’s DC in collaboration with Kumla Municipality and Kumla Youth Clubs that is organizing the event with the help of other sponsors and volunteers.

This year there has also been a Rail Not Jail Qualification Session, which was held in the legendary ski resort of Storstenshöjden, Sweden on Saturday the 8th of March, where 25 riders participated, with the top three earning themselves a wildcard to ride DC Rail Not Jail Invitational.

Tons of snow has been saved to make the contest area bigger, better and funnier this year. There will be some new rails and boxes this year that the infamous David Ny and his company Scandinavian rails are in the process of building right now. Some of the sponsors will also be attending the event to present some of their new products first hand. During the day there will be Swedish top DJs and artists performing live on stage, hopefully motivating the riders to let their steeze hang out to the fullest.

In the evening ‘The Fabulous Flying Circus’ and the ‘Aloha Hemp Girls’ will throw a huge party at Club Zäta for everyone that has crossed that magical barrier of the age of 18. Sweden’s reggae kings Governor Andy & Ras-I-Door also did not want to miss this occasion and will set the dancefloor on fire once again. This year the Element ambassadors and great skate punk band, Itchy Daze, will join in at the party and perform live on stage as well. Don’t miss them. Kumla’s best bartenders will mix nice and strong drinks in the bar as usual, and will make sure to keep the oooomph alive.
