Count on the US Open Snowboarding Championships to Feature
Olympic Athletes, Free Santigold & RJD2 Concerts and More

BURLINGTON, VT (March 11, 2009) – There are countless reasons why the US Open is one of the most exciting competitions in snowboarding. Here are just a few.

0 is the amount of dollars it costs to watch the best snowboarding in the world at the US Open, taking place at Stratton Mountain Resort, Vermont on March 16-22, 2009.

1 is the number of snowboard competitions that have featured the most progressive riding for longer than any other event in the world – The US Open Snowboarding Championships.

2 is the number of brand new Volvo XC-60s that USO sponsor Volvo Cars North America will award to the overall top male and female riders at the US Open. It is also the 50th anniversary of the three-point seat belt, which Volvo invented and shared with every car manufacturer at no cost, saving more lives than any other vehicle safety invention.

3 is the number of Olympic gold medalists competing at the US Open: Shaun White, Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter.

4 is the number of people you need in your car when you park at Stratton during the US Open finals in order to be entered into the US Open carpool raffle. If your raffle number is chosen, you will be the lucky winner of Burton’s 2010 eco-friendly GMP products.

5 is the number of snowboard movies that have featured music by RJD2, who will be performing a free outdoor concert at the US Open on Friday, March 20 after the quarterpipe competition.

Chill selects outstanding members from each of its North American locations to attend the Open, giving many of the kids their first chance to fly in an airplane, see a major snowboarding competition and meet professional athletes.

11 is the number of years Santigold has been snowboarding. Her album ‘Santogold’ landed at number six on Rolling Stone’s top albums of 2008. Santigold will play a live, free show after the US Open halfpipe finals on Saturday, March 21.

$50,000 is the amount of money the Men’s Swatch TTR World Tour Champion will receive at the US Open.

$100,000 is the amount of money the male and female 2009 Burton Global Open Series Champions will take home after the US Open – currently the largest single payout in competitive snowboarding.

1,536,829 is the total number of views that the 2008 US Open received on, which will webcast the 2009 US Open quarterpipe, halfpipe and slopestyle semi-finals and finals live.

3,000,000 is the number of trees that Paul Mitchell helps plant across the globe per year by supporting American Forests® and its Global ReLeaf® program.

289,950,000 is the number of people over the age of two that NBC reaches in the U.S. NBC will air the US Open on Sunday, March 29 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST.
