Become a Grouse Park Blogospondent

The new Grouse Mountain Parks “Blogospondent” program launching this month offers youth aged 16 to 24 an opportunity to get a leg up in the snowsports media world.

Enthusiastic young snowboarders are invited to apply to have their say in a whole new way this 2008-09 season. The five park riders selected will speak to audiences everywhere and hone their skills as Grouse Park Blogospondents while networking with the best commentators in the industry.

Each Blogospondent will be required to write one entry each week for the Grouse Park Sessions blog. The commitment is a minimum of four hours per week, though contributors may submit additional entries as they like – there is no maximum. Blogospondents can choose any relevant topic of interest to them including: the parks, pro team riders, snow industry events and news, Grouse Mountain park events, cool videos on YouTube or Google video, industry fashion trends, equipment, suppliers or anything else they think will be interesting.

This is a great opportunity for aspiring snow writers & photographers to access the industry, see how it works, get noticed and make a name for themselves while Grouse Mountain works to promote them through industry channels!!!

To apply, applicants should write something they think highlights what they know, who they are, why they ride or want to do this. Photos or videos can be included to enhance the application.

Each Blogospondents will receive a digital camera for photography and video reports, and a Grouse Mountain Terrain Park Volunteer Pass for the 2008/09 season. The pass includes skiing and riding all season, 40% off food and beverages, 20% off retail items, and complimentary Freeride Program clinics (space permitting). The Blogospondents will report to Grouse Mountain’s Marketing Services manager and will be eligible for incentives such as gift cards and additional lift tickets. At the end of the season, each Blogospondent will have a portfolio of published work and a letter of reference from Grouse Mountain (applicable for Career Prep and/or some co-op situations).

Grouse Mountain will choose five finalists to become our 2008/09 season Grouse Park Blogospondents.
