Training for the 2009 edition of Terje Haakonsen’s legendary quarterpipe contest in Oslo kicked off yesterday, with the likes of Gian Simmen, Risto Mattila, Antti Autti, Arthur Longo, Colin Frei, Mads Jonsson, Peetu Piiroinen and Kevin Pearce getting their bearings on the monster trannie.
Onboard senior shooter Espen Lystad is on the ground in the Linderudkollen and he fired over these images to check out. Make sure you tune in to our LIVE ARCTIC CHALLENGE WEBCAST of the Highest Air contest from 1pm CET today. Will someone finally breach the 10m barrier?
Espen will be shooting the Highest Air, so make sure you check back tomorrow for some ‘holy shit’ eye candy.
Gian Simmen poking one out.
Selection of launch pads.
At the Air&Style, Terje came over and personally invited 17-year-old Finnish rookie Niki Korpela to TAC. Niki played it cool and gave it the ‘don’t call me, I’ll call you.’ NOT.
Mads Jonsson throwing the shaka as he drops.
If current TTR World number 1 Peetu Piiroinen doesn’t come in the top three, this journo will eat his hat. Fact.
Young Frenchie Olivier Gittler will no doubt be chicken winging above the trannie.
Another view of the arena, with the quarter lurking at the bottom like an icy pirate’s claw.
