THE TECH FILES

SP Gadgets

SP are well known in the shred game for their tight binding range, but a few years back they branched out and budded off another arm of their business, one that focuses on technical accessories, called SP Gadgets.

Primarily focussed on providing a host of accessories for POV cameras, their range encompasses products for everything you might ever want for your GoPro, Sony ActionCam, smartphone and their ilk – from travel cases to battery blocks to poles, mounts and much much more… SP Gadgets have what you need.

We took a look at three of their key models.

REMOTE POLE

This ain’t no everyday selfie stick. The Remote Pole has been designed from the grip up to provide the best performance for snowboarding. This pole is fully extendable from 36 to 99cm allowing you a huge range of adjustability so you can get a wide range of different angles. The handle is both rugged and ergonomic to give you extra stability and control, plus it’s got a loop to secure it to your wrists so it doesn’t go flying if you unconsciously decide to go for the mid-air jazz hands. Then there’s a port where you can attach your GoPro Wi-Fi remote, SP Smart Remote or even your phone (more on that later) to the pole to control your POV cam like a boss.

PHONE MOUNT

We know some GoPros these days come with a screen, but try using it when it’s on the end of a 99cm pole and see how that works for you. Unless you have telescopic eyesight, the answer will be ‘badly.’ But, as we alluded to above, SP have developed a Phone Mount that can be attached securely to their Remote Pole close to the grip, thereby allowing you to pair your phone to your GoPro and use the phone screen as a monitor. Boom! Of course, you can also secure it to the end of the pole to give yourself some full selfie stick action.

POV ELITE CASE

Having a GoPro and all its associated bells and whistles is great, but it can add up to be a lot of easily-misplaced gear that you end up having to cart around and the chances of losing one of those tiny SD cards, cables or an important bit of connection hardware increase exponentially each time you step out the door. Enter the POV Elite case. This sleek, compact yet tough case is the perfect thing to stow all your bits and bobs in securely. There are foam compartments for your camera, SD cards, LCD BacPac, WiFi BacPac, cables and more to protect them from knocks and drops when you’re carting your POV rig around.
