Why Sage Kotsenburg Being Famous Now is the Best Thing Ever

So when Sage Kotsenburg won an Olympic gold medal the other day he essentially went from regular snowboarder, to super-famous-celebrity-professional-badass snowboarder over night. ‘Spoice’ will probably be added to the dictionary next month and his holy crail grab is soon to receive its very own Facebook fan page…

But in all seriousness, Sage Kotsenburg being the current face of snowboarding in the USA (and beyond) is pretty much the best thing ever.

Sage is now back on home soil, and understandably busy doing ‘mad media’, and has since been whisked off to for interviews with everyone from CNN to Jimmy Fallon.

How rad is it that Sage – the same kid who rides in a crew called Lick the Cat, and fairly recently was doing topless backside 180 Japans on the X Games big air jump with Halldor Helgason, is the man that the general US public now see as the current face of snowboarding?

Hannah Teter got her own Ben and Jerry’s flavour Ice Cream after being in the Olympics and we’d be pretty hyped to see Sage Spoice Wheaties come to fruition:

But without wanting to sound overly gushing in my compliments, Sage is just a damn cool kid and I know for a fact that if I was still 14 and considering getting into snowboarding, he would have been an insanely good rolemodel (heck, he still is). He’s super funny, way too positive, pretty handy on the snowboard and just a general boss at life, and is exactly what snowboarding needs in a time when it’s at risk of losing it’s edge and identity.

Keep doing what you’re doing Sage and thanks for keeping it real.

ps. that’s too funny you gave Bob Costas pink eye. We’re not ones to wish bad things upon people but that clown had it coming:
