TRICKOLOGY – Frontside Invert with Nicolas Müller

There is no better ripper to school one on the art of handplants than the inimitable Nicolas Müller. So without further ado allow us to present to you Nico’s Trickology on frontside inverts…

Run In/Preparation:

“You need to approach the transition for this trick with a flat base and your focus on the spot you want to plant on. Your body should be upright and parallel to your board. Once you hit the tranny bend your knees a bit.”


“As you approach the lip you are going to let your board go ahead of you while your upper body falls back. At the same time you start to reach with your leading hand. Grabbing like I do in the sequence is easiest and it should feel and look like a frontside air. Your board should go for a straight backflip Indy grab, while your body starts to fold. Your knees come close to touching your nose while your head is tilted and looking in the direction of the planting shoulder. Now stall it and enjoy it while it lasts!”


“Your landing is right there; you almost push off with your arm and your lower body comes down again. It is as if you were pulling yourself up from a bar without using your legs, except gravity is doing all the work – although this might be too confusing. Learning by failing is all part of the process. You’ll get it…”
