Leanne Pelosi is one of the best female shredders and has been around quite some time, while Raewyn Reid is a shooting star newcomer from Canada. The new Runway film See what I see was Raewyn's first big movie production and surely not Leanne's last. But read on how the opinions on firsts and lasts between an experienced pro and a greenhorn clash - or NOT?
First time on a snowboard? - Leanne: when I was 16 - Raewyn: when I was 11.
Last time on a snowboard? L: 2 weeks ago, I had a photoshoot at Mt. Hood. I was just strapping in to go down the mountain. R: At Hot Dawgz and Handrails at Bear Mountain in September.
First thing you do when you wake up? L: Turn the alarm off! R: Brush my teeth.
Last thing you do before you go to bed? L: Check my emails. Or take the dog for a walk, maybe? [Laughs] R: Brush my teeth! And say goodnight to my mom.
First snowboard movie you watched? L: The one when they’re driving up the mountain to Mt Baker. The Garden, that was my first movie. R: True Life by Mack Dawg.
Last snowboard movie you watched? L: Travis Rice’s That’s It, That’s All. R: The last was the Sandbox one, All Day, Every Day.
First trick you learned? L: I pretty much learned how to indent my boobs the other way [laughs], because I would try to spin off jumps and never land, ever. I would break my wrists like 10 times and just always slam on my face. R: I think an Indy grab. Oh no, I think it was Methods, but not good ones…
Last trick you learned? L: Frontside switchup, with Raewyn. After she did it. R: Back 5s maybe?
First thing you bought from your first sponsorship cheque? L: Rent? R: I remodelled my fishtank.
Last thing you bought with your sponsor cheque? L: I just bought a condo. R: My plane ticket out here to Europe.
First book you read? L: I don’t even know. Maybe some children’s story. Little Miss Red Riding Hood? R: Why Betty Barks.
Last book you read? L: I never finish books. I always just start them. I think the last one was called Does the World Need Religion? Or something. The Athiests’ book. R: A Million Little Pieces, by James Frey. It’s really sad, I’ve cried like 10 times already.
First Kiss? L: Some boy under a table when I was in grade 6. It was at school. R: I had a little neighbour boyfriend, he lived right next to me.
Last Kiss? L: My boyfriend Jeff, at the airport. R: Coincidentally, my mom. She dropped me off at the airport.
First thing that comes to mind when you think of Europe? L: Good chocolate, good cheese, good parties. R: Fun. Just fun times.
Last thing you miss about Europe? L: The smoke in the bars. It’s so nasty. R: I think it’s pretty cool out here, but everything’s expensive. That’s more the fault of the Canadian dollar, though.
