What board do you ride usually? Roxy snowboard's Ollie Pop 151 for most things
What features of this board are specific to girls who ride? The Ollie Pop has been designed as a twin tip with a really good flex pattern. I use this board for riding park all the time and I also use the 148 for street rails. I love it!
Do you change boards for different snow conditions or for rails, and if so what board do you change to? I usually use an Ollie Pop for every kind of riding. I do change the size to 151 which gets me by on everything but I usually change to a 148 or 145 for street rails and to a 154 for powder.
How many boards do you kill in a season? And how many make it to eBay in good shape? HAHAHA this is a funny question. I went through probably 10 boards this year. Not because they broke but I usually like to have a new board for a contest and for any snowboard trip I go on. So then I retire the other board and usually give it to a friend or eBay, but they are in pretty good condition.
What bindings do you use? And at what angles do you set them? I use tech-Nine bindings. They are awesome! I have +21 and -21 angles on my board. Haha, my knees like it the best that way.
Forward lean or not? Yeah I am a true believer in forward lean. I only put it up 1 but I can tell the difference. I think it helps me a lot with my edging and balance.
Do you know the exact measurement between your bindings or do you do the old John Wayne on your new boards and guess? I use to guess but it got old having to change it if it felt weird so now I have a cantered stance on my board and it is about 22.5in. But on a powder board I have it an inch set back. Sorry I don't know the metric system.
Do you use cap-straps on your bindings? How do they feel compared to the old style toe-straps? I have been using cap straps since they came out and even before those I would ride with the old toe straps low on my toes. I think it is a great idea. My feet are more comfortable and I believe that there is more blood flow.
Are you into stiff boots laced up to the point of cutting off circulation or soft boots with an easy lacing? I have gone through both the boa system and the lacing system and I prefer them to be laced tight in the morning ’cause after about a run they loosen up and it is really comfortable.
How do you break your boots in? Well I am lucky to ride for Vans ’cause their boots are so comfortable from the first day till the day I retire them. But when I use to have to break in a boot, I would put my old liners into the new shell and shred in the boot for a couple of days for the shell to loosen up, then I would put the new liners in and it was mellow.
Do you have heat-mouldable liners or special footbeds for comfort? I think my liners are heat mouldable but I am too lazy. So I just go for it. My feet so far feel good!
What line of outwear do you use? I ride for Roxy outwear. And I use all of the lines that I am stoked on. I usually go for fashion over function, and layer up if I have to. But Roxy outwear is pretty sweet, I do not have any complaints.
What features are you really stoked on in your outwear? I love the long puffy Roxy makes. I think they are making 3 different types of long coats this year. Such a brilliant idea! I also like the waterproof zippers and how warm I am!
Do you prefer a shell and layers or insulated outwear? Well if it is a powder day I just go for the long puffy. I hate having too many layers on ’cause they usually get wet and with the long coat I come home dry as a leaf. It’s great!!! But in the spring I definitely prefer the shell and I will add a couple of layers if needed.
What essentials do you pack in your daypack if and when you ride with one? Okay I always have sunscreen, water, a shovel, probe, walkie-talkies, beacon, food, extra layers, extra gloves, and extra lenses for the goggles. It’s a full pack!
What is the one extra thing that you don’t leave home without to go riding? My snowboard pass, and Chapstick! Oh I guess my cellphone… hate saying that one, though.
