You will have read all about Jules Reymond in issue 77, the new rookie from the French-speaking part of Switzerland who’s been blowing everything up recently. Well, here is one of his best friends and riding colleagues from the Vaud and Valais regions, the equally talented Christian Moillen (AKA Kiki).
Like Jules, Christian possesses deep knowledge of his local mountains, including a few well-kept secret spots in the resort of Les Diablerets. Currently studying osteopathy in the city of Lausanne, Christian is both focused and serious. He knows when to party and when to get the job done. This year, he took a year out from his studies to do a full winter season, organising snowboard trips to both Greece and Lebanon. Unfortunately for him, the trip to Lebanon was dogged by a freak snowstorm that apparently would have made hurricane Katrina look like a light summer breeze. Subsequently, they came home with little in the can. But where Christian stood out most last season was at the Burton European Open, where he got through to the semi-finals and proved that he is indeed a force to be reckoned with. Expect to see much, much more.
How did you find your first sponsor?
Bruno Morini, AKA James B, sorted me out. At the time, he used to organise the summer camps in Les Diablerets, where incidentally quite a few of today’s international riders made reputations for themselves. I can’t thank him enough for what he did for me!
Have you had any media coverage? If so, where and when?
I had one page in the 10th anniversary issue of Snowsurf and landed the front cover of a free magazine called Snowtime.
Who do you ride with the most?
I used to ride a lot with P’tit Jules but he’s away a lot of the time now. The boy is going places and I’m really proud of him! Otherwise I ride with Tonton, he lives 15 minutes from my house and I pick up something new from him every time we go ride! And then all my friends of course: Roblon, Arnaud Terrier, Stef, Mik and Vans.
What are your plans for this coming season?
To progress my snowboarding skills, stay fit and healthy, and catch up with all my old friends who I’ve met through snowboarding.
What would you do if you weren’t snowboarding? I’d just cruise the streets.
Your favourite music? Ragga, dancehall, hip-hop and Brazilian music.
Your favourite quote from a film? I’m shitting myself but I’m going anyway!
