The second attempt to save transition snowboarding is on again; The Red Bull Double Pipe 2015. After some tweaks and changes with the angles and the build process, this is what they’ve come up with.
A double line of kickers measuring 15m and 18m kick off the course. The second hit will be a step-up jump so that riders don’t enter the pipe with more speed than a Nicolas Cage film.
From the looks of it, they’ve narrowed the gap in-between the two pipes to make the pipes easier to transition in and out of, as well as adding a 7m channel gap into the first section of the pipe.
The section of pipe after that gap will be the full wack 22ft superpipe we all love and are absolutely petrified by. The transition angles will be played around with on this section to allow big airs and radical stunts between the two pipes.
The second section will be slightly lower at 17ft, and looks like it’s slightly more rounded to allow low amplitude transition between the two behemouth constructions.
There’ll be a livestream from the Red Bull Double Pipe 2015 on the 12th of March from 19:30 CET. We’ll keep you updated in the run up to the event.
