Nitro Onboard Week – Val d’Isère – 17th 24th of March
Welcome to the first blog from the Onboard/Nitro week in Val d’Isère: The Quest For The Holy Cover. 18 riders and 6 photographers came together on Sunday in the beautiful resort to check out spots in Val d’Isère. All week riders and photographers are going to shoot ever in the resort, until Friday night when we’ll all gather at the Conference Centre so the riders can pick the cover of a future issue, which will also feature an extensive report of the week.
Riders:Markus Keller, Anton Gunnarsson, Tobias Karlsson, Nils Ardvidsson, Jonas Hagstrom, Patrick Huber, Antti Seppala, Valérian Ducourtil, Laurent Gougain, David Livet, Marco Concin, Tobias Strauss, Medhi Abdelsalam, Aymeric Tonin, Alouan Ricciardi, Thomas Sarameda, Gary Zebrowski, Laurent Hafle.
Photographers: Scalp, Fabien Lamborot, Julien Laurent, Sami Tuoriniemi, Fred Egli, Eric Bergeri.
The first day, Sunday, was an opportunity to discover the park that Sylvain Reynal and Gumby had put together for us, which was looking pretty good. Good enough anyway to do a heli photoshoot in the morning, and for Nitro rider Alouan Ricciardi to kill the session with a huge BS 720 from the massive middle booter and for Anton to land a sweet 5 and 1. After this, the crews separated to check spots in the backcountry. I don’t want to reveal too much from that first day of shooting, but after what I saw I can tell you that Scalp and his crew are certainly in the lead for the cover at the moment. On the other side of the resort, Sami Tuoriniemi was shooting with Antti Seppala and Anton Gunnarsson from a step down, where Anton tried unsuccessfully to kill himself, drifting a huge 360 50m which unfortunately didn`t land.
A winter present came during the following night, offering riders and photographers 40cm of freshies. Just in time for the Onboard crew to get some face shots in constantly disappearing sun, trying to locate all the different crew shaping stuff in the beautiful backcountry of Val d’Isère.
