After a super long bluebird powder day our teamriders Roli and Diz teamed up with Heli from Digital Motion Media, filming for Atomic, and the Austrian Crew "gas-family" for an epic Nightrail-Session in Carinthia in Austria this weekend.
First spot was a steep 20 step Downrail, near the Wörthersee lake. The spot was perfect apart from a tree next to the takeoff which had a huge branch in the way, so Diz played lumberjack and promptly removed the said branch with some chopping skills. Diz not only has lumberjack skills he can also demolish street rails, which he showed with a clean FS Boardslide, and Austrian rookie Roli Scharmer stuck his frist try too with a super stylish FS Boardslide. Over the next two hours the rail was used and abused by Peter and Niko from the Gas Family with sick tricks FS Boardslide 180 out, BS Smith and I dont know how many FS Boardslides, the next more stylish than the last.
Afterwards the session went on into the city centre of Villach, where another handrail was waiting. During the shaping an attentive pedestrian made himself very useful and proceeded to call the police, many thanks buddy! Within 2 minutes there were 2 police cars at the spot… super. But thanks to the eloquent and friendly words from our filmer Heli the police thought the rail session was a super idea and let us continue until midnight and permitted us to use the generator too! Now that does not happen very often! Unfortunately the run in over the street was too slow and sketchy so that our riders could not hit the rail properly.
The highlight of the session came around midnight when an old grandma from one of the nearby houses started shouting abuse at us from her window for over an hour! She threatened to come down and hit us, and have us killed, and all sorts of horrible stuff was coming out of her mouth. We ignored her and started to clear up the spot. While we were doing this, the killer grandma came outside with a broom and proceeded to hit Heli the filmer over the head with it, it was like a bad film! She managed to break the broom over Heli's head and give him a nasty cut, so bad we had to take him to hospital! He was fixed up and sent home sporting a nice new turban on his head. Being the nice guy he is he did not press charges against her and by doing so certainly saved the evil granny from a sentence in a horrible old peoples home. Maybe it was just too embarassing to admit he had been beaten up by a granny!
Big thanks to Heli for filming and his way with the police, and to the GAS Family for finding the spots, shaping them and disarming the evil granny! And remember, not all grannies are THAT evil.
