Rocking times in Mondial du Snowboard

Got back from France last night and even though the journey there was long & winding (from Innsbrooklyn, AT) – the trip was definitely worth the effort. We arrived pretty late Friday night and went directly to check out the new Burton video “For right or wrong”. The documentary style of the video was well received and felt fresh to watch. Afterwards it was dinner with the Burton crew at a nice restaurant. Afterwards we checked the local party scene which can pretty much be described with the following 2 words: packed & hot. Hot as in sweaty. The french people sure know how to party though – no matter how sweaty and limited the floor space is! Kareem, Peter and Eero – to mention a few- were out and about too, so we had a few refreshments at one of the bars. After that it was time for me to go to bed and get some sleep before hitting the glacier in the morning.

The morning kicked off in sunshine so not much to complain about there. Quick breakfast, riding gear on and short walk to the gondola. Once up – we went to meet & greet our French reps Jean-Marc, Cedric & Cyrill who were busy giving out Forum boards & bindings for demos. Then off to have a few runs on the slope. The long lift lines were a bit of a pain in the ass, but the sunny sky made it bearable to wait for your turn. And the nice snow made it worth repeating the long wait. Felt like spring riding and well; that’s usually a lot fun, right? Right you are as it definitely was a pleasure to cruise around. In the afternoon it was time to go down to the village; eat some crepes and purchase some red wine & cheese for a balcony chill out. As the darkness fell down, we headed to the Burton rail jam that was a rocking event and a good kick start for the last night out in Mondial. After seeing some breath taking rail action we aheaded to see the Absinthe “More” premiere and throughout the evening ran into a whole lotta famialiar faces; Method mag crew, Klaus from Snowparks, Eero Ettala & Jukka Erätuli, Sami from Onboard, … Once again it was packed & hot & sweaty – but a few rum & cokes made dealing with it slightly easier.

On Sunday it was time to head back home to Austria – after a few days of fun in France. It was a shame to hear on the way back though, that some assholes had stolen a lot of stuff from the riders’ hotel as well as the Billabong bus & Burton rail event area… take a one big look at yourself – whoever you idiots are…

Forum will be representing at the Pow Wow rail battle/DE next weekend, and afterwards it’s the Pleasure jam in Dachstein. Words will follow afterwards.

Laters skaters.
