Pacome of the Carribeans
When you go to an event for the 9th year in a raw (oh shit I’m getting old!) you need to spice up your trip a bit so it doesn’t get too much repetitive. Our trip started in Marseille, grilled fish in the Calanques and a little stop at the infamous bowl. I guess that was our way to make a nice change on our way – if I can say so – to Les Deux Alpes. Four hours and a couple of amazing passes later, we arrived in the resort in a rather quiet atmosphere.
On the way up, charming little village isn’t it?
Not even the usual riot police and custom dudes to welcome us, very surprising. Sami – first time on the event – was briefed about the riots two years ago and the weird habits of the local police. He was I think expecting a full body search with fingers intrusions included, he looked a bit disappointed but who knows, we’re here for a few days aren’t we?
After a quiet diner, we had to face it: the party was on. A pirate party. Even on quiet nights, there’s always something going on. Bugger. And it went on pretty late actually… Far too late. I guess the rhum was good.
The test area on the glacier
Today, the early lifts were carrying the usually packed crowd. Well that’s what I was told, I wasn’t in the lift that early this morning, shame on me. By the way I tried Demir’s board, the Imperivm DJ 156, and that board is just amazing – which is a good thing when you’re riding with a raging hang over… And now we are down at the hotel, we can tell you that the streets are getting busier and busier, and the smell of booze is around. Les Deux Alpes resort is on fire again, and the Spy/Onboard party is on tonight (Friday) in Les Bleuets, happy days!
Hopefully we’ll make it to the glacier again tomorrow (Saturday) anyway. Not so much snow but the park is in a good enough shape to motivate everyone. Oh, nearly forgot, Premieres of the Psykopit video and the Standard one Saturday at 3.30 pm in the main tent at the bottom of the gondola. Right I’m off for a little warm up session at the bar…
