knee injury land

I´m back in Munich, Germany and landing in reality wasn´t as hard as expected – this may have to do with the fact, that i still don´t stumble through the desert of knee-injury-land by myself. Fellow isenseven-mates Andre Tröltzsch and Marco Smolla have achieved a complete ACL tear aswell, so we can exchange the newest advice on knee-cooling-techniques and surgery-decisions while waiting for the spring months to go by until we can go back to the snow when others get their tan on their Munich balcony.

After the usual business of a professional snowboarder without the permission to play in the snow (paying bills, writing invoices, going through tax-travel-diaries and collecting coverage) i am already getting tired of being in Munich again. So there was this amazing play to invest the collected airplane miles of the last months into something absolutely awsome and adventurous – i want to fly to Ghana and bike through Togo and Benin on the coast, and back through the inner country. Why? Because after 2 semi-boring months being hurt i can´t sit still anymore, i want to see and experience, i want to get tired and learn about something new again. It´s March, and in March you´re not supposed to hang around and do nothing. Actually you´re never supposed to do so. But right now, i really want to have a huge new different experience to make up for those 2 months of repetetive physical theraphie, minimal moving and computerwork.

Unfortunately my knee doesn´t want to go for adventures yet. Just from biking into Munich city a few times, it swell up so much, that i started moving like a grandmother. The other day the doctor drew a few shot-glasses full of yellow-ish liquid out of my knee, now it feels better, but i have to take everything even easier. No more biking, only minimal walking, raise the boringness factor to the top of the scale again. sweet.

i´m still dreaming of better days though, of biking through countries filles with a million new impressions, of living life in a way that i need to write 5 pages in my diary at night to keep up with whats happening (instead of 1/2 page right now), of seeing, smeeling and feeling things i haven´t known so far and of being able to run and scream when i want to.

this all isn´t happening in knee-injury-land.But i will leave this damn place as soon as i can, and until then make sweet plans for the “after-life” with my fellow sufferers Marco and Andre. Not even knee-injury-land can hold you back from dreaming.
