I had a different kind of summer

Hello and hopefully you all are enjoying this summer. I had a different kind of summer than I’ve had for the past 5 years. Normally I’m on the mountains and travelling in the summer too, but this spring I had knee surgery which made me stay home running in the water and going to the gym.

Dark side.

As fun snowboarding is, there is always some kind of a negative side to everything to keep the positive side brighter. Injuries are for sure the dark side in snowboarding. It’s the best hobby in the world, from my point of view, but injuries really suck. I have a big list of these: broken back discs, torn ligaments, concussions, bruised heels, twisted ankles, bad wrists etc. etc. But I have always recovered well and been able to ride good after the injuries.

Now I’m here again. With a new ACL and a fixed meniscus on my right knee. I remember again why I should not do the biggest bomb drops and I should take it a bit easier sometimes.

Now that I have all the rehabilitation training on my mind I want to give you some tips on how to get your body rehab well and how you can feel even better than before the injuries, when you will ride again.

Water running is really effective way to rehab your body. You can do it earlier than other stuff since it is easy for your body but good for the muscles and paths.
You run in the pool with float around your waist and do it rather with your friend than alone just to avoid getting bored.

Cycling is good for your blood circulation, like water running. It makes the blood go faster around your body and speeds up the heeling process. Ride easy and some longer trips. And pedal quite fast with low gear.

Healthy food is sooo important. Give your body possibility to recover from the injuries rather than doing more damage with bad food and alcohol. Lots of water is really good too, even 1 litre per 15kilos of your weight is good. It can feel terrible at first but you get used it sooner or later. Check information about your body PH level and eat alkali food and avoid acid stuff. You can find more info on the web. This is the most important thing to maintain healthiness and feel energised.

This is what I’m doing this summer and this is big part of our hobby. When you get injured, hopefully not, but if you do, remember my tips and you will feel better and ride sooner. And remember to eat some chocolate too sometimes and go out and have fun but treat your body nice 90% of the time 
