The DC MTN.LAB movies hold a special place in many people’s hearts as super fun snowboard movies with some awesome riding in them. And with Pierre Wikberg as chief producer – one of the dudes behind the seminal RobotFood trilogy – there was little surprise that the DC MTN.LAB movies carried many of the same hallmarks.
DC MTN.LAB 1.5 dropped in 2007 (the same year as last week’s ‘Picture This’ Flashback) and had its name altered from 2.0 to 1.5 after DC felt that the worst snow season on record was probably not the best year to drop the official sequel to the wildly popular DC MTN.LAB movie. Sadly, there was no DC MTN.LAB 2.0, although 1.5 was still a great movie.
One of the most memorable sections was the New Zealand Subaru part, which saw riders like Eddie Wall, Torstein Horgmo, Chas Guldemond and more jib, be towed by, jump over and jump next to a Subaru rally car at Snow Park NZ. And with none other than DC bossman and all-round motorsports aficionado Ken Block behind the wheel, this was destined to be a banger.
It’s an explosive and truly original 3 minutes of snowboarding, and that “dude, I just got snaked by a Subaru!” line is an absolute classic.
