This is just plain RAD. Check out Halldor and Eiki Helgason, along with other members of the Icelandic Team Divine crew – Gulli Gudmundsson and Vikto Hjartson – sending it as grommets in this low budget Icelandic shred flick from back in the day. Noxious Dreaming, bitches!

When we were researching our piece on Icelandic snowboarding for issue 120 we interviewed Geiri from Nikita – aka the geyser of all knowledge when it comes to snowboarding in Iceland. Mid-way through our chat he said “Oh, I just found a box in the attic of the old Team Divine videos we made back in the day. I could send you a couple if you’re interested.” If you don’t know what Team Divine is, it’s basically the snowboard crew from Iceland that includes brothers Eiki and Halldor Helgason, Gulli Gudmundsson and Viktor Hjartson. Four guys who’ve gone on to kill it to varying degrees outside of their Motherland.

In Geiri’s words: “Noxious Dreaming was the first ever snowboard DVD to come out of Iceland and the second snowboard movie released by the Team Divine crew from Akureyri featuring riding from Gulli, Eiki, Halldór, Viktor, Ingo and friends. It features footage from the legendary AK Extreme festival and the even more legendary summer camp, the Iceland Park Project. This is not a movie about snowboarding, but about snowboarders. We basically just shot whatever we thought was fun and then got a good friend to edit it and put some music over. You could also call Noxious Dreaming Gulli, Eiki and Halldor’s first Sponsor Me video. I think some magazines also voted it amongts the best amateur films that year. At the time it was an ambitious project but then again they are pretty ambitious guys.”

It’s crazy how you can see Halldor’s unique style already when he’s just an excited shred imp, and, moreover, though the riding and filming is not quite The Art of Flight, you can see that even back then these boys had something special going on. It certainly makes snowboarding look hella fun. Check it out – it’s AWESOME.
