The Shred Down Austrian Masters Halfpipe Contest is a wrap

Yalda Walter

The Shred Down Austrian Masters cross-generational event with the youngest competitor being six years old and the shredding legends, well they have been around for quite some time now.

Despite nasty weather conditions, the superpipe in Kühtai’s K-Park got shredded hard by the contestants. In the men’s section Johannes Höpfl from Berchtesgarden left behind Johannes Handle and Yannick Hermann to take the top spot. Johannes Handle was able to snag the title of Austrian Master and along with that got a one-year contract with Red Bull Mobile.

The male rookie section was dominated by Yannick Hermann right before Simon Gschaider and Florian Prietl. Good ol’ Jocki Köffler placed first in the legends section, Wolle Beer and Bernhard Staudt had to be satisfied with second and third place.

Olympian champ Nicola Thost showed what she was made out of but in the end it was Croatian ripper Morena Makar who won gold.

Kaja Verdnik won the women’s rookie section, with Leilani Ettel and Ayla Thidling making second and third.
