When: Sun 21st of October 2007
Where: Les Deux Alpes, France
During the Mondial du Snowboard, on the last weekend of October in Les 2 Alpes, people discovered the “The Mini reunion de chantier” (construction meeting), a new concept event organized by Rossignol.
Here’s the recipe: take some building site equipment, a dozen trash cans full of snow, a picnic table, a highest ollie comp, motivated staff, some Rossignol riders, a stoked out public, a loud speaker and shake, shake, shake better than Tom Cruise in Cocktail and you get it!!!
The contest was free and both tourists and Pros were invited to take part. They had two options: hit the picnic table with a stylish trick with a lot of t-shirts to win; or take on the highest ollie above the yard barrier with a “The Mini” board to bring back at home for the best jumper.
The only rule on this building site was you had to ride on the Rossignol “The Mini” that people could test for free on site. The Rossignol International team riders like Mat Crepel, Xavier de le Rue as well as the Euro squad with Brynild Vulin and Dimitri Biau were present to make the show. Brynild hippy ollied the yard barrier and jibbed the picnic table with some various skate tricks. The participants were super motivated by the ollie contest carrying on run after run. The Rossignol staff had trouble stopping them!
The contest setup. Check the highest ollie bar. Siick!
The guy winner of the ollie comp jumped above 1m35! And according to the last rumours he sleeps with his “The Mini” every night since then.
The girls hit the contest with some nice tricks too; they were very focused on it until the Mat Crepel and Xavier de le Rue autograph session. They left the comp for a while, just time to go to get dedicated posters of their “heroes”.
Good ambiance and nice success for the first the “The Mini reunion de chantier” competition, the Rossignol staff and the riders had promised to come back.
