Saturday the 15th of February saw the 11th edition of the Sick Trick Tour pass through the Mercedes-Benz Snowpark Kitzbühel for the 2014 edition.
The course consisted of two lines to allow the competitors to take full advantage of the existing features – the first line was a jibline with a smattering of Tyrol’s finest rails and boxes whilst the other was two kickers to catch some airtime on.Photo: Sam Strauss
The ladies took to the course first displaying their lissome talents with a whirlwind of trickery on the course. In the women’s snowboard category, the sideways standers stepped up to their forwards facing rivals and threw down. Nadine Härtinger impressed the judges, but was overshadowed by Kaja Verdnik and Klara Dinold who took 2nd and 1st place respectively.Photo: Sam Strauss
The snowboard rookies impressed with their creativity and amplitude – especially young Maximillian Preissinger, who after his exploits at the Blue Tomato Plan P back in December, took home the trophy with a demanding win. This left last years winner Tit Stante and Tour newcomer Naj Mekinc out in the cold with their silver and bronze medals to comfort them.
To finish off the day, it was the men’s snowboard category. Simon Pircher (KSC) arose as champion with a switch backside melon 540. This left Tour veteran Fabian Wolfsgruber to tussle it out with Daniel Mösl for the second and third spots respectively. Despite missing the top three, Dominik Brunner´s backside 900 will also be remembered.Photo: Sam Strauss
