The cool temperatures could not hold the Freestyle community back to come to the snowpark Lenzerheide to celebrate once again a special event highlight of the amazing series March Madness presented by „Die Mobiliar“.
On Saturday around 400 freeskiers and snowboarders gathered at the snowpark Lenzerheide to have a freestyle-session together with the Suisse scene magazines Twin and Whiteout and to win some money at the CHF 1000.- worth cash-for-trix session in the afternoon! Due to the slogan „Big Park Party“ the riders were motivated as never before to push the riding level and to have fun in the perfect set-up up the Stätzerhorn.
Already the early morning riders in the park realized that this gonna be the perfect day for an outstanding Freestyle session, when they saw the park-set up in stoic peace and already in the sun. The temperatures were around the level of January because of the pretty cold north wind, but the riders quickly frequented the smaller kickers, rails and boxes. When the DJ touch u and DJ Daveheit started their partytunes and the first Angel and Eve of Cardinal were opened, the Big Park Party got its start!
Till 1 p.m. there was the film- and photoshooting of Twin and Whiteout going on and the photographer and the filmer tried to catch the best angles and hottest action. Due tot he hard snow conditions the action was more going on on the medium-kicker line and the rail-line than on the pro-line. And the filmer and reporter „Hias: I am from Austria“ was on his trip in the park to collect the best statements and thus the good mood of the riders community in the snowpark Lenzerheide on tape.
After the warm-up Session the program came to its highlight around 1 p.m.: the cash-for-trix session started at the upper part of the main snowpark near the chill-area. Because of the hard snow conditions the contest-area was restricted to the rail- and box-line and the last kicker of the medium line and the totally new shaped wall-ride.
The cash-for-trix-session is a rider-friendly contest format where everybody can take part and compete. You just show the best-line over the rails, boxes or kicker, and when the judges assess your line as your individual, most stylish run, you get CHF 10.- cash at the end. So when the judge Gianni Paterlini got his position, Simon Kaufmann, the parkdesigner and speaker, started the session. Around 100 freeskiers and snowboarders between 10 and 30 years took part in the session and pushed the level every round they were hiking up to the starting point again!
After 90 minutes outstanding action and many gunfires and rail combos later, Simon Kaufmann gave the last CHF 10.- to the last winner and the session was finished. But
the crowd was not finished yet and showed with some gunfires why they are here in the snowpark Lenzerheide: to ride with friends and have fun while snowboarding. The session found its end in the chill-area, where the kids got some new inspiration out of the whiteout mags and some goodies of the partners like Die Mobiliar, Twoleftfeet.ch and Raiders and Twin.
For the party-hungry people, once again the Cinema Music Club of the Hotel Kurhaus Lenzerheide was the place to be, where the Big Park Party of the March Madness presented by „Die Mobiliar“ found its end in the early morning hours with Party beats of DJ Cem (Elektro-House).
On Sunday the weather conditions with sun and spring temperatures were perfect for the next Park Party. Hundreds of riders came up in the snowpark to party, to ride, to enjoy the BBQ and DJ tunes of DJ Touch u and DJ Daveheit or just to hang out with friends and have a good time. And some already talked about the next week to come and party again…
Because the March Madness presented by „Die Mobiliar“ represents once again for the finishing move: On Saturday, the 28th of March, there will be the ROOKIE RODEO, the snowboard contest for all youngsters up to 18 years in the snowpark Lenzerheide! And the big after-BONK-party in cooperation with Twoleftfeet.ch in the Cinema Music Club of the Kurhaus Lenzerheide!
