Frontline Railjam 2006

Set Up

The second annual Frontline Railjam just went down in Stockholm, Sweden thanks to Kareem El Rafie and John Uppfelts the brains behind the FL Clothing company which is blowing up across Europe right now.

The Central square of Stockholm was taken over by 20,000 kg of snow and a 8 meter long downrail and a same length double kink box, good music and huge crowd of thousands of people making sure the event will be remembered for a long time to come.

Invited riders across Europé from 8 countries showed upp with names such as: Hans Åhlund (Swe), Fredu Sirviö (Fin), Eirikur Helgason (Ice), Peter König (Aut), Torstein Horgmo (Nor), Kareem El Rafie (Swe), Risto Ruokola (Fin), Nicky Wieweg (Swe), Ton Ton Holland (Ch), Steve Revil (UK), Andrey Moskvin (Rus) and so many more.

Qualifications

The 23 Invited riders got split into two 45 minute heats where 4 advanced from each heat with a ninth wildcard.

The 9 riders who stood out the most and got picked out to ride the finals where: Hans Åhlund, Fredu Sirvio, Torgeir Berra, Eirikur Helgason, Torstein Horgmo, Gulli Gudmunds, Kalle Olsson, Peter König – the only non scandanavian rider and Torjus Thomansen.

Finals

The setup for the finals was a 45 minute jam and whenever a rider stomped a trick that stoked audience and judges they got rewarded straight away with 50 Euros cash. The lure of straight up cash made all the riders up their game and throw down for what was the highest level of riding across Europe this year.

The down rail got torn apart with tricks such as Hans Ahlund dropping nollie back tail 270 out and cab 270 to fs blunt back to fakie whilst Servio threw hardway fs 270 Fredu and Eirikur did bs 180 to switch nose press 180 out and Torgeir Berra did Fs 270 to fs sallad which allso gave him an best trick bonus of 250 more Euros. An amazing session…

And on the double kink we saw Eirikur take it to the next level with back lipp pretzel and back lipp danish out, switch nose press and switch 50 50 gap cab 360 out and switch frontside board by Gulli, switch 50 50 180 to tailpress (Hans).

As last rider to drop in Fredu Sirvio stomped a perfect hardways fs 270 on the down rail and the crowd went wild.

After some hard desitions from the Judges (Chris Sörman, Hampus Mosseson, Harald Hammar and Gustavv Een) they decided to split up the rest of the prize purse and reward the best 3 riders.

After the sucessfull railjam over 500 people gatherd for the after party at the 3 floor night club ”Bacci” packed with stoked dudes, 2 euro beers and beatiful Swedish girls to party the night away. The Rail Jam well and truely made many riders stoked on Stockholm and because of the amazing session and crazy party put it on the map as the new Helsinki as the capital of rail riding thanks in part to the huge work of Kareem El Rafie and FL Clothing and suporting sponsors: Spy optic, Junkyard.se, Transition, Wäsabergen and Rip curl.
