Bataleon Rookie Attack

When: Sat 21st of February 2009

Where: Wildhaus (Toggenburg, CH)

70 freestyler rock the Rookie Contest in Wildhaus with Jan Scherrer being the one to stand out the most.

Due to the freaking snow conditions they were able build a diversified funpark in Wildhaus: a double kickerline with two jumps, a gap jump and six different jib-obstacles were available for the rookies, partly travelling from far far away. While the riders were trying their best, they had 250 spectators cheering for them at the Chill Out Zone.

The local Jan Scherrer was killing it that Saturday, proving his talent with a line that consisted of switch 720ies bs and fs. So he won a three days ticket to the Open Air in St. Gallen. Lucien Koch another local, won the kids-competition and took the title of the U14. The ladies Leonie Altherr and Inga Birkhölzer had a thrilling duel where Leonie succeeded. And in the evening everybody was happy, this might also be due to the event-sponsors Bataleon, Spy and Vans throwing out some give-aways…

Encouraging young talents is one aim of Andreas Roth, the boss of the organisation-crew. He is happy that riders of the whole of Switzerland came to Toggenburg, as it also shows the high need for rookie competitions – not only for riders who are already very good, but for all the kids who like to shred. The encouragement of kids will stay an important task for www.snowland.ch
