If you have followed the ISPO happenings, you probably heard of the insane event we hosted together with 686, Electric, Warsteiner and ispo. Lights Out – a boxing fight, where the industry’s heavy weights seriously battled it out. The event was off the hook and besides watching semi-naked, sweaty guys punch the shit out of each other, all the benefits went to the charity Fuck Cancer. So there was no doubt that we’d stop by their booth and check out their new stuff.
Since 686 was formed in 1992 it’s founder Michael Akira West made sure to provide its customers with innovative, fashionable outerwear and technical inspiration. Coming from a skate- and snowboarding background, he sure knows what people are looking for in their gear.
686 stands for a crucial date in the life of Mike’s grandmother and also adds up to the age, when he founded the company (don’t worry, we did the math for you: he started out when he was 20). We don’t really remember, what we did, when we were 20, it’s all a bit blurry, but it for sure wasn’t starting a company from scratch, so the man has to be good at what he’s doing.
