Since becoming FIS Junior World Champion in 2006 Mario Käppeli has built a career as versatile, consistent and stylish snowboarder who sends it both on and off the hill.
In his early career Käppeli became a staple of the competition circuit, and was a frequent contender in World Cups, National Championships, Europa Cups, FIS Races and FIS Junior World Championships to name just a few. All of which he has ranked in the top 10 positions in both Big Air and Half-Pipe Competitions.
Mario was born on May 27, 1988, in Switzerland. Following in the footsteps of his brother and father, Mario began snowboarding aged 9, he often had to be physically removed from the mountain. He broke onto the Swiss team aged 15 but quickly grew tired of the grind of the competition tour and he dropped out after a few years.
Käppeli rediscovered his love for snowboarding as part of the Forum team. When the brand dissolved in 2012 Mario found a new home with CLRWR and Slash Snowboards. Having mastered the park, Super Mario has branched out in recent years and started to make a name for himself in the backcountry under the wing of the Slash board and snowboarding legend, Gigi Ruf.
With this new direction Mario Käppeli is firmly in love with Snowboarding and continuing his development into a more complete rider, impressive in the safety of the park or out in the backcountry.
