[Hams from last year to get you in the mood for a Turtling.]
Yep, it’s back. On Saturday, 17th of March, the Vans Wängl Tängl 2012 presented by G-Shock will kick off it’s 10th Anniversary celebrations with a week long Snowboard, Skateboard, Music and Art ‘Contest-ival’ in Mayrhofen, Austria.
Some of snowboarding’s leading lights will be heading to the walley for this epic contestival – including current TTR World Snowboard Tour Halfpipe Champion, Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), three time consecutive TTR Tour Champion, Peetu Piiroinen (FIN), and current TTR Vice Big Air Champion, Eric Willet (USA) – and will clash with local heroes such as Rudi and Chris Kroell, Mario Wanger and Peter Koenig in the pimped out Vans Penken Park. Not only this, the event is held in a unique ‘Crew Battle’ format, which not only guarantees the highest calibre of snow park riding, it also increases the possibility of pure and utter carnage going down before your very eyes.
The Skate element is as eagerly awaited as the on-hill shenanigans, and continues the ‘Crew Battle’ format with internationaly renowned skaters who’ll tear seven shades of shit out of the Mega-Mini-Ramp, and there’s a host of music acts to ensure bootys get shook up. For those who like a bit of culture with their booze, The Vans Looking Sideways art show features work by a stand line up board culture artists including Ed Templeton, Tim Karpinski, French, Danny Larson additionally bringing great minds like Blaise Rosenthal, Corey Smith, Danny Wainwright and Tristan Huber to Mayrhofen.
If anyone tells you there’s a better, funner contest on earth than this, they’re lying, mental or a skier. See you there.
