Following a series of meetings with the Cairngorm mountain resort and the Cairngorm snowboard club, Vans are proud to announce the opening of their own British snowpark in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland.
Its well known that the Highlands can have some brutal weather conditions and after years of not much snow to ride, last season was very promising with two months of good snow and a park at the top of the mountain. The snowboard club reported a number of weekends where there were over fifty snowboarders shredding the park. March 2006 saw the introduction of three new features to the snowpark, using money raised by the snowboard club. A c-box, a battle ship box and an escalator box were added to the park as well as seven existing rails and some kickers.
Vans are stoked on getting together with the mountain and snowboard club, and are keen to keep the Vans park in a tiptop condition throughout the winter. This forth-coming season Vans will provide four comps for the Brits to enjoy on their very own doorstep.
Aviemore is the local town to the mountain and holds a vast amount of accommodation, restaurants, bars and shops, where you can make yourself feel at home while you visit the Vans snowpark!
Subject to weather and snow conditions the dates are as follows:
- Feb: School half term 10/11th or 17/18th
- March: Pre British champs warm up 3rd/4th
- April: Easter Holidays 7th/8th or 14th/15th
- May: End of season jam 5th/6th with the Vans UK snowboard team.
On these dates there will also be a Vans Snowboard Boot Test Centre where you can check out snowboard boots from the latest Vans range and get the chance to
meet riders from the Vans UK Snowboard Team.
