Forget all those ‘spin to win’ contests, where the shreds performances resemble those of highly trained gymnists. Forget all those ‘uberurban’ rail contests in the main squares of cities. Nowadays, snowboarding is serious business, and events have to be approached with lots of focus. The protagonists in the contemporary snowboarding world bear a slight resemblance to highly efficient robots. If you’re over all that, you should consider paying a visit to the ‘Longboard Classic’ event. Why not go to Stuben, Austria on the 5th of April, hang out, meet up with your friends, old and new, and ride all your old snowboard shit, which has been collecting dust in your basement or some dark corner for the last ten or so years?!
At the ‘Longboard Classic’ its all about, as the title suggests, about using your old equipment in the name of FUN. If you’ve have been there you know what we mean: old Burton Cruzers, prehistoric Sims models or even Hooger Boogers (a late 80′s bestseller)! In other words, its about going back to the roots of it all.
Before you know it, you will be standing at the top of the Albona Ridge at an altitude of 2,400 meters, and shred down the easy-going freeride terrain, with a vertical of 1,001 meters, to the village of Stuben. A reggea collective going by the name of ‘Roots Rockers’, will be awaiting you at the bottom of the run in the Klostertal. Good vibes are guaranteed.
To save time on the day of the event, the organisers thought it a good idea for people to sign up in advance over the internet, on the Longboard Classic Homepage.
