Meanwhile, there has been some changes on the Billabong Air & Style Quarter Pipe competitors list. Due to an injury Marco Smolla (GER) can not take part at the event. He will be replaced by Kim Rune Hansen (NOR), winner of the Quarter Pipe in Davos beginning of this year. Henning Marthinsen (NOR) and Janne Korpi (FIN) got injured, too and cancelled the event. Both will be substituted by Daisuke Murakami (JPN) and Peetu Piiroinen (FIN). Matts Kulisek is the 24th rider to compete at the Billabong Air & Style. The fresh talent from Montreal ensure his wildcard thanks to his success at the Billabong Ante Up in Calgary, Canada.
Kulisek will be part of the top class contest in Innsbruck and meet the superstars Antti Autti (FIN), Risto Mattila (FIN), Scotty Lago (USA), Kevin Pearce (USA) or snowboarding legend Terje Haakonsen (NOR). The snowboarders will dispute the qualification round in two groups by three runs. Only the best eight riders will be qualified for the final. Each finalist must show three runs until the winner of the Billabong Air & Style Quarter Pipe in Innsbruck is made up.
The show will be broadcasted live on www.billabong.com/airstyle. A good opportunity for all those who cannot be in Innsbruck and want to bring the atmosphere at home.
Besides best snowboarding action on the big Quarter Pipe (12 m high, 24 m wide and an accelerated departure up to 100 km/h) the alternative rock band Queens of the Stone Age and reunited German Hip Hop artists Dynamite Deluxe will complete. But also at the official after contest party at the IVB halls near the Bergisel stadium featuring DJ Thomil la (Turntable Rockers), DJ Friction (Motor Mouth FK) and DJ Scratchator (Official DJ of Busta Rhymes) will make people dance until sunrise.
One day before the event starts a signing session with the Billabong team riders Antti Autti, Risto Mattila and Scotty Lago has been previewed on Friday, February 01st at 5 pm at the Moreboards Store located in the Anichstrasse n° 6 in Innsbruck.
