5th Edition Stimorol ENGADINSNOW by Columbia Sportswear
Top athletes from all over the world invited to the anniversary edition of the freeride and big air event in the Engadin.
The preparation for the anniversary edition of the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW is at full speed. For five years the world’s best freeskiers and snowboarders have been meeting in Silvaplana to showcase their skills and ride the north face of the Mount Corvatsch. The winter broke in, powder is covering the Engadin and so the conditions there should be ideal for the exciting action due to take place in Silvaplana from the 9th to 14th of January 2007.
40 top snowboarders will ride from the 9th to 14th of January 2007 the up to 60° steep north face of the Mount Corvatsch with their sights set on prize money of 20’000 Alp Dollars.
The spectacular big air contest is also taking place for the fifth time in a row. Athletes from all over the world are invited to the showdown on the Mount Corvatsch / Silvaplna in January.
Snowboard champs such as Flo Örley (AUT), Steve Klassen (USA) and Ueli Kestenholz (SUI) are competing. The Swiss snowboarder says goodbye to the FIS and concentrates on the freeride discipline. He is celebrating his big mountain comeback at the 5th edition of the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW on the Corvatsch. Top freeride girls Ruth Leisibach (SUI) and the last year’s winner Géraldine Fasnacht (SUI) are also participating in the snowboarding category. The Verbier Xtreme 2006 winner Cyril Neri (SUI) will also travel to Silvaplana and show hot action on the north face of the Mount Corvatsch.
The ProAm Big Air is a combined event for Freeskiers and Snowboarders and will take place at the Corvatsch midstation. It will offer the possibility for amateurs to compete. If they get through the qualification, they can compete in the big final on Friday against some of the world’s best Big Air riders.
As the Stimorol ENGADINSNOW celebrates its 5th birthday, there will be various special events: Friday eve, there will be night skiing with illuminated slopes. The Italian band THE FIRE will play at the midstation of the Mount Corvatsch and heat up the freestylers who want to participate at the Night Wallride Jamsession.
On Saturday the 13th of January 2007 the freeride anniversary special will take place. The best freeriders will have one more opportunity to ride the north face of the Mount Corvatsch. The big anniversary party and prize giving of all the competitions will be in the famous Diamond Club in St. Moritz. Don’t miss this big happening and join the freeride and big air stars in the Engadin.
