British Champions Inspire Pupils to Get Active
On the 5th September the Snowlife Schools Tour, now in its second successful year, hits the road to educate and inspire over 8,000 school pupils to give snowboarding and skiing a go for the first time.
The team of professionals – among them Olympians and British Champs – will visit 16 schools over the UK, giving away over 1250 free introductory lessons at the Snowlife ‘Ride & Slide’ weekends, staged at local slopes.
The tour will hit four regions nationwide: Edinburgh, Swadlincote, Plymouth and Chatham. Between 5th September and 1st October, four schools in each region will be invited to attend the Snowlife ‘Ride & Slide’ events at their local slope for free taster lessons.
Snowlife is a national campaign led by the Snowsports Industries of Great Britain (SIGB) to encourage greater participation in snowsports. The Snowlife Schools Tour initiative is part of a long-term project to combat inactivity and obesity in youngsters.
The hour-long lessons are taught by qualified instructors, plus special guests such as Lesley McKenna, Dan Wakeham and Scott McMorris, and all participants get a Snowpack, including a DVD, wallet, sweat bands, pencil tin, pens, stickers and posters, to bring home.
