The Reels, the snowboard film festival that awards the best productions and riders of the season took place in Annecy last week. DAKINE was well represented by many riders, proving they have one of the most solid snowboard teams in the scene.
The production Distorted Reality won the title “Best Big Cinematography”, being also nominated for “Best Movie of the Year”. The Pirates Movie production featured team riders Elias Elhardt and Sami Luhtanen. Filmed in many challenging spots in Austria, US and Alaska, Elias has some of the most epic parts in the film. Sami Luhtanen’s part got him a nomination for the “Best Newcomer” award. His unique style displayed in his urban sections really made an impression at the event, being considered by most a real upcoming star
Other DAKINE riders with a big presence at the festival were Louif Paradis (“Best Jib Segment” in Deja Vu), Jason Robinson and Victor de le Rue. The production Dopamine by Absinthe has some great sections with Jason Robinson and Victor de le Rue. Victor’s part in Dopamine got him the nomination to “Best Backcountry Segment”. You can also see Victor in the opening segment of the new Almo Films French production, Drole de Vie.
