Ten years of age separate 34-year-old Backcountry Specialist Xavier de le Rue and his younger brother Victor de le Rue, an unstoppable freeride duo who are now the newest members of the Blue Tomato Freeride Team.
The triple Freeride World Tour Champion (2008 to 2010) Xavier, and ‘French Rider of the Year 2013′ Victor, are joining snowboarding legends such as Kalle Ohlson (SWE), Mathieu Crepel (FRA), Marc Swoboda (AUT) and Anne-Flore Marxer (FRA).
Xavier’s first realization was “… my tongue is starting to get blue already … pretty weird!?“, while Victor proclaimed his excitement about joining the team: „It feels really great to be a part of this awesome team and family!“.
Blue Tomato team manager Vanessa is thrilled: “… the de le Rue Brothers are a perfect addition to the team. Xavier continues to fascinate us every season with his exciting expeditions and passion for new lines. For his age, Victor brings impressive all-round qualities that range from urban snowboarding all the way to big mountain riding. Blue Tomato has always had a deep passion for freeriding, so we are very excited to be working together.”
Xavier’s idea of a perfect slope is one that is steep, wide, and probably in one of the most secluded parts of the world. What he loves most, apart from his wife and their daughter, is filming for snowboard movies like “White Noise”. He wants to show the world what it is like to besnowboarding beyond the slopes and crowds, in practically unreachable terrains.
But Xavier also has something else up his sleeve: the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He plans to dedicate his time purely to snowboardcross until February. Then he’ll head back up north to get some new shots for future film projects.
Victor, on the only hand, is only interested in one thing: filming. He loves filming like he loves his big brother, and wants to film in as many different places across the world as possible. Contests don’t fit in to his master plan, although he would make one exception: “If I get invited to Air & Style, I would go, otherwise nope “.
Despite all his preparations for the Olympics, there is one event that Xavier refuses to miss – the premiere of his latest film “Mission Antarctic”, which he will be presenting together with Lucas De Bari in Zurich on October 30th and in Munich on October 31st. Blue Tomato will be raffling off 2 VIP tickets for Zurich and 6×2 VIP tickets for Munich.
And that’s not all! Blue Tomato has joined forces with Xavier’s sponsors The North Face, Rossignol, GoPro, Smith, DEELUXE, Rip Curl, Drake, Dakine and Buff to present a huge sweepstakes. There will be a new prize to win every week, including a new splitboard, a full outerwear set, goggles and much more!
