The 5th edition of the Red Bull Hike & Ride will be taking place between 22–25 February 2007 in Switzerland.
This year marks the fifth edition of the Red Bull Hike&Ride. This year, the seven film works, which are directed, filmed and edited by stars on the snowboard and ski scene a mere 72 hours prior to the premiere, will be projected on the big screen at “Kaufleuten” in Zurich at the end of February. The director’s chair for the public team has not been assigned yet, and Red Bull is accepting applications until 15 January so you’d better be quick!
“I have never experienced three days of such intense snowboarding. You have to be creative, alert and snowboard all at once, the standard is high – and there’s no time for sleep!” exclaimed Vinzenz Lüps, member of the Hike&Ride winning team at the award ceremonies in February 2006.
The seven teams of two that compete in the Red Bull Hike&Ride have only 72 hours to film, edit and add the soundtrack to their own film – and also star in the leading role. From 22 to 25 February, twelve professionals and two members of the public team will be underway somewhere in the Swiss Alps once again equipped with creativity, concentration, skill and loads of gear; the exact location remains a secret until the start of the event. Seven short films are created within three days – and each one is a masterpiece.
Anyone who wants to rock with the pros in the seventh team – the public team – can apply with a 2-3 minute film, featuring ski and/or snowboard scenes and a brief presentation of the riders, by 15 January. The jury will review the films submitted for the event and determine which team will enter the competition, basing their decision on the quality, originality and creativity of the applications films. The application form can be downloaded at: www.redbullhikeandride.com.
After 72 hours of filming and editing, the film works will premiere at 9.30 p.m. at “Kaufleuten” in Zurich. After the awards ceremony, there is a massive celebration with the winning team and runners-up. The door opens at 9pm. Admission is 10 Swiss francs. Minimum age is 18 years.
