Check out the Trees dude!
Shorty after the madness of the ISPO was over, a little resort in the Czech Republic going by the name of Horni Misecky hosted one of Volcom’s Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Tourstops. Yes, you read correctly, or should I say errectly. Horni. So what, big deal. Grow up! About 130 riders from the surrounding countries of Slovakia, Poland and Hungary signed up to battle it out with the Czech Local hero’s for various prizes and a shot at going to the Final tourstop in Grindelwald, Switzerland.
It was snowing heavily, which made the though of sliding rails and boxes a little strange, but nonethenless everyone who shares the love of metal sliding had a great, little, tight but really fun setup waiting for them. The setup entailed a little box at the top, followed by a straight down kink rail and a straight rail to gap to down rail.
The fifteen year olds and under were giving it their all, showing some cool and very controlled combos. In the end it was Tymur Stuzka who snatched the win from Martin Mikysla (who turned some heads last year), followed by Thomas Houloubek in third.
The Girls were fiesty and were showing that the rail sliding abilities of girls are up to par with the boys. In this category it was Iveta Kolegarova who won before, Bara Sabrova and Luca Krizova.
The 16 and over category of the boys was a jib and metal destruction fest, where standard stock tricks included Backboards to Frontboards to Bonks out. I guess the setup was fun, as the massacre lasted till the last rays of daylight made way for the decending darkness. Just to give you an impression of the level that was going down. Roman Kuril emerged victoriously over Baji Takas and Ondrey Kozak to be crowned jib king of the event. Everyone was stoked on the event, and even more stoked at the thought of, after destroying the jibstacle course, riding pow the next day. Best of both worlds eh! Happy days!
