This season’s Women’s TTR World Snowboard Tour will unfortunately miss Scandanavia’s top all-girl TTR FOUR(4) STAR slopestyle contest the Candy Jam as organizers announce its cancellation due to lack of sponsorship.
A new model for this season from the eyewear specialists Spy, the Omega is a no-nonsense bit of eye protection and this is DCP’s take on the blighter – with an exclusive design and colourway. A big old frame holds an oversized dual-pane lens system for crystal clear panoramic vision, and by featuring Spy’s patented Scoop technology the Omega ensures it stays as fog-free as possible. Triple layer foam with moisture wicking fleece means the Omega sits on your face comfortably and we’re well down with how understated these look.
Swiss resort Davos gears up to host the leading freestyle snowboarders of the world at the inaugural edition of the TTR SIX(6)STAR super event the O’Neill Evolution, 2nd-7th January, the first contest of 2007 on the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour.
Travis has the habit of blowing minds every time he stands on a snowboard. And this is the snowboard upon which he stands when making your brain go pop. The weird, wiggley edge – Magne-traction – has seven contact points which, as Lib sagely point out, is more than two and thus better. Lib-speak aside, we can only say that it works, with noticeably better edge hold on ice and, basically, a blast to shred on. One of the fastest bases known to humanity helps Travis get over those stupid big jumps, and this stick has mad pop from the Power Transfer sidewalls. The package is topped off with some crazy Mike Parillo graphics.
Mountains, freedom, fresh snow and sun – freeriders love the simple things in life. It’s even more fun in a group. That’s why the US ski and snowboard manufacturer K2 created the K2 Freeride Camps. Off-piste weeks for snowboarders, skiers and telemark enthusiasts in three of the best freeride areas in the Alps.
Devun’s über stealth limited edition signature model comes full to the back teeth with the goods required for a corker of a goggle. These Walshes will protect your eyes from all harmful frequencies of sunlight through the bronze mirror amber lens plus the quality of vision is banging thanks to the spherical shape. They’re comfy on your melon, too, being that the frame’s backed with the luxuriant contoured velvet face foam. New for this season is R-Tex mesh, which covers over the vents’ holes and provides a moisture wicking surface to keep the vents clear of snow and ice. They look the business and have the Walsh seal of approval – what more do you want?
The 2006/07 Burton Demo Tour features 200 stops in the U.S. where riders can test ride the latest Burton gear for FREE at their favorite local resort. Helly dub the Logan 5 as the International Jacket of Mystery – designed to perform in the wide-ranging environments encountered by the team’s shreds across the planet. The interchangeable track jacket can be used on nippy days, left at home or worn down the boozer; pockets are aplenty for everything you’d ever need (they’ve gone as far as making the cargo pockets removable); and the fully taped, waterproof/breathable Helly Tech material keeps Mother Nature’s worst at bay. Other details include a snap-away, zip-off, stretch powder skirt, removable hood and an anti-chin-chafe collar. It can even be zipped together with its namesake pant for fully sealed snugness. You want any more out of an outerwear piece and you’d need to call NASA.
New for 06/07, Elan Chicas is proud to introduce their first female-specific program. They enlisted the expertise of their female team riders and designers and gave them the freedom to get wild. Their mission was to create innovative and unique products to meet the demands of today's women snowboarders. The Chicas crew developed a dual focus on fun and performance. Their efforts have resulted in true product advancement.
On December 17th, the search for the best amateur rider in China was brought to end at the newly expanded Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park just outside of Beijing. Due to high winds, the contest was postponed by a day, but that didn’t keep the locals down. The riders were giving it their best for one last chance to prove themselves worthy the all-inclusive trip the Austrian Alps this spring. The Mellow Tour was designed to recognize the countries top amateur rider and give them the once in a life time chance to train over the off season and be coached by top international professionals at a European Summer Camp.
The second year for Adidas’s Burna sees the goggle receive a bunch of new colours, like this gold one here. But while beauty is only skin deep, functionality, in this case, penetrates right to the very core. ClimaCool and anti fog technology keep you mist-free, and as the vents are designed so air flows through the vents and back out, your eyes don’t get irritated. The toughened polycarbonate lens gives a wide field of vision with clarity that’s sharper than a lemon, and on the inside of the frame there’s cushy padding to ensure pressure is reduced whilst improving fit. Oh, and if you wear specs you can get a Performance Insert thingy for your prescription so you get the same performance as if you had 20/20 vision.
With only a matter of weeks to go before the start of the inaugural edition of the O’NEILL EVOLUTION, O’Neill and the Swiss resort of Davos are gearing up to host what will be one of only six 6-star freestyle snowboarding events on the 2006/07 Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour.
Ftwo is proud to welcome Miikka Hast to its international team. For a few years now Miikka has kept a very high profile not only in the international freestyle contest scene, but also filming with big name crews in the US and Europe. He’s a regular at events such as ‘The Battle’, various TTR events and the US Open and will definitely add a new dimension to the Ftwo team.
