Official Legion site re-launch

The new legion site is up and running at www.ilovelegion.com.

When we rolled up our sleeves and got down to business with the re-design we more or less re-built from the ground up, incorporating a lot of new ideas and features we missed out first time round. For this reason the re-design took longer than expected but we now have a great looking /functioning site we can build on.

We had a soft-launch (marketing speak for we were pretty sure the site was riddled with bugs) a few weeks back and have used the time between now and then to iron out the kinks (yeah, there were bugs) and began to populate the site with new articles, interviews and profiles. It also gave the Legion faithful first peek at the new duds we were sporting and get in the door early.

Our aim is still to cover the freestyle scene, for skiing & snowboarding , in Scotland. We mean to profile as many of the rising stars out there and promote the different scenes which nurture the development and progression of freestyle.

We’ll also continue to deliver fresh feature articles and interviews with pros that our readers value. We’re still unbiased as to where the action takes place and will continue to cover events on dry-slope, in domes, at resorts and anywhere an urban rail session may spring up.

HMS Legion is manned by a motley crew of snowboarders & skiers; it’s a labour of love and we work on the site alongside regular 9-5s so we’re always on the lookout for article writers or photographers who’re happy to contribute.

So what can you expect from the Legion V2.0?

1. Well for a start we’re obviously keeping our irreverent slant on all of the industry news, reviews and interviews. This is the heart & soul of Legion.

2. We’ve added a review category to the site which may look like Mother Hubbard’s kitchen cupboards just now but we have a raft of product tests in the pipeline which you’ll see posted in the following weeks.

3. Our podcast workflow has been overhauled and we have a better system in place to release each film and deliver every episode in a number of ways to make them as accessible as possible.

4. Advertising with Legion is now easy, affordable and worth your while as our site stats are improving on a weekly basis, we have taken a big leap with the new site design. Our rate card is available and the revenue from advertising will go towards moving www.ilovelegion.com onto a dedicated server. Yawn – I know, how dull, the money should obviously go towards lap-dances, beer and new boards! Email {encode=”ads@ilovelegion.com” title=”ads@ilovelegion.com”} for more details.

5. Readers can now comment and rate articles which offer us good feedback, providing us direction while also raising the bar when it comes to quality of article (You have to register to comment, that way we know who you are and can track you down and go to work with pliers and a blow torch if we don’t like what you type!)

6. Legion now boasts a number of Blogs as well which gives us the chance to throw up quick stories, opinions or musings which don’t warrant a full article. We’re pimping out Blogs to different guests too and you’ll see a few characters taking this up shortly (whenever they can be bothered to actually get up off their farters and do it)

7. Improved galleries make it easier for us to manage our images and quickly upload content. We attended the last TSA Showdown event at Braehead SNO!Zone and managed to publish a full write up, edit and post images and video clips all within 24hours. That’s quicker than some women give birth!

8. The team itself have undergone an intensive physical conditioning regime to look leaner, healthier and more buff (than we already were). With an improved diet we all have strong teeth and a glossy coat.

So why should I visit www.ilovelegion.com?

1. Because you’ll be enriched by the experience, laughter is the best medicine & the food of love and can actually lose you calories. So Legion can help with weight loss.

2. Everyone else is doing it. Peer pressure is fundamental to being accepted.

3. You’ll make friends. We’ve got a thriving friendly community of actual riders who actually snowboard regularly so you can organise sessions and get yourself over to whatever slope you fancy.

4. If you’re pi$$ed off with low-quality snowsport anorak sites that regurgitate press releases, rely on crappy forum banter and more or less live off their reputation then Legion is a fresh new take on the grass roots of our sport in the UK.

5. If you don’t like it you can always log onto www.skiboarder.com

An incredible amount of effort goes into www.ilovelegion.com we’re really upping the ante with the new site and want to deliver the most feature-rich, funny & valuable freestyle resource online in the UK (that last sentence will probably send this straight to the recycle bin!).

You can help by advertising with us, donating product for review or online competitions, recommending riders for profile and interview, link swapping, generous cash donations (unmarked £20 notes ideal), word of mouth or just by joining our online community participating once in a while.
