For the first time, visitors will be able to access all areas of the winter sports spectacle from as little as £5 when buying advanced tickets for the opening day. So, whether you’re a St Moritz seasonaire, a Val d’Isere virgin, or just looking for an exciting family day out, the Ski and Snowboard Show is your winter wonderland of choice this October.
At the centre of this year’s show will be the legendary 40ft kicker, where visitors can watch the crème de la crème perform gravity defying tricks. Both the British Snow Tour Championship and the London Ride competition return, showcasing some of the world’s best skiers and riders as they battle it out for big air.
A winter sports event just doesn’t feel quite right without a bit of snow, so for the first time ever the show has teamed up with the Sno!zone creating an indoor arena with real snow! Bring your hats and gloves and get ready for the odd snowball fight, or two!
Styling it out
Mashing up next season’s snowsports apparel, high fashion and show stopping choreography is what the Brand Arena does best. And it’s back with even more iconic brands including Bonfire, Degre7, Westbeach, Faisse, Skins and Salomon all launching their winter collections in a visually explosive catwalk show that’s sure to inspire your winter wardrobe.
Getting away from it all
If this year’s show has inspired you to jump on a plane and head for the mountains, then the World Resorts Village is your next stop. The W.R.V. plays host to a wealth of tour operators and independent experts all on hand to offer advice and guidance to ensure your next winter holiday is an unforgettable experience.
A new word for a new area of the show! The Zillertal Après Ski bar comes to the 2009 Ski and Snowboard show, allowing visitors to chill and relax in style, soaking up an Alpine vibe in the heart of London Town. The legendary Gigloo – a gig in an igloo – also returns with a host of up and coming bands and entertainers. For the first time ever, the Gigloo will be featuring live stand-up comedy, featuring Andrew Maxwell.
If it’s delicious food you’re after, head to the World Food Kitchen and go on a culinary tour of the globe without leaving the capital. Mouth watering delights from France, Austria, Italy and as far afield as Japan will be sure to satisfy even the finest of palates.
Taste the powder and enjoy your first off piste run of the season with some inspirational talks, films and guidance from mountain experts. You can also check out the latest snowboarding gear where core snowboard brands will be showcasing the latest kit and giving people the opportunity to talk to professionals about how to choose the right board and other essential equipment.
