The 07/08 TTR World Champ and double Air&Style and BEO winner Kevin Pearce is now in a critical but stable condition after sustaining a serious head injury while training in the Park City pipe.
Reports state that KP was working on the double cork – which he’d already put down over the summer – in Park City’s pipe on New Year’s Eve when he over-rotated the spin, caught his head on the coping and sustained a serious head trauma. Though he was wearing a helmet, it appears that he caught some of the lip just above the eye, the impact of which knocked him out and resulted in fluid building up on his brain.
Thankfully his condition, while still critical, is stable now and so we’d ask for you to send your most positive of vibes from the old continent over to Kev and wish him a full and speedy recovery. There’s a Well Wishes To Our Friend Kevin Pearce Facebook Group that you can become part of and post your messages of support.
Damn, what with all the double shoulder dropping going on right now it’s easy to forget the consequences that can result from being just a fraction out. This is a stark reminder as to what’s at stake when the envelope of snowboarding gets wheeled the hell out there, as it is being now. Be safe, and get well soon Kevin. Our thoughts are with you, your family and your friends.
