Finally the legendary Gastein-Valley gets its longed for snowpark. And even more than that: It gets a QPark! That means a sophisticated setup and snowparkconception and perfect quality from the first day of the season to the last. QParks is the biggest player in snowparks in the German speaking European regions. 11 exceptional snowparks from Lower Austria to Graubünden in eastern Switzerland are built and maintained under this label. Established projects like for example the Intersport NovaPark Silvretta Nova and the Burton Superpark on Dachstein speak for themselves and for the label! Together with the highly motivated Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG QParks will develop one of the most regarded snowparks in Austria.
Name of the Snowpark:
The name of the snowpark is simple and clear: Snowpark Gastein
The Snowpark Gastein is located in the “Stubnermulde” on the Stubnerkogel. The “Stubnermulde” itself is located directly above the nice city of Bad Gastein. It can be reached with the “Stubnerkogelbahn” in one ride directly out of town. The connection to the well known “Schlossalm” and Bad Hofgastein is also very good: Just go up with the “Angertalbahn” from the Angertal and head directly towards the Stubnermulde. The whole Stubnermulde is now provided as snowpark-area and with the “Burgstalllift” the Snowpark Gastein has a perfect lift-connection. Directly at the bottom-end of the Snowpark Gastein the cozy “Stubneralm” offers delicious food and drinks to hungry park-riders. On sunny days one can chill on the snowpark- and sunturned terrace and enjoy the show!
The snowpark-setup for the upcoming season is:
Straight-T-Box (6 m)
Rainbow-T-Box (6 m)
Straight-T-Box (3 m)
Straightrail (4,5 m)
Kinkedrail (2,5 & 3 m)
Picnictable (5*1 m)
and several Tree-Jibs
The whole setup rather applys to beginners and intermediate riders than to pros. The size of the kickers will fit into that concept as well. The Snowpark Gastein will develop and get bigger and bigger in the coming years and with that more proobstacles will be integrated in the list of elements. Step by step… but it’ll always be a real FUNpark!
As every QPark, the Snowpark Gastein is maintained every day of the season. The parkdesigner is Andi Röck – working together with Bernd Mandlberger and Jürgen Kipperer in the conception. Headshaper is Ivo Simurda being supported by Shaper Alberto Rinaldi.
First off – a big shout-out to the Gasteiner Bergbahnen AG! They are the ones that make the Snowpark Gastein possible. The project is also sponsored by several coreshops of the Gastein-Valley and QParks is in negotiations with several companies of the snowboarding- and freeskiing-industry to find a fitting long-term-partnership for the snowpark.
Freeriding in the Gastein-Valley:
The Gastein-Valley stands for amazing freeriding! Check out legendary Sportgastein, where the slopes go up to nearly 2.700 m and the backcountry is wide (!… really wide) & open (!… really open)! In general the mountains in the Gastein-Valley are high, impressing and beautiful. Come, check it out and you will come back over and over again! And if you don’t manage to visit this very special part of the Austrian mountains then that’s a pity! But nevermind – at least the QParks-Crew will supply you with loads of photos and stories through all of Europe’s magazines in the coming months, thanks to the massive integration of photo- and video-productions being invited to the Gastein-Valley!
