The Volvo X OVER RIDE 2006 is getting really close now and runs from Friday 6th – Monday 9th April in Kilzsteinhorn, Kapurn.
They’ve got some excellent riders ready on their marks, as participants from eight nations show their skills and spend the weekend riding together. It looks set to expect some top class performances and the international starters will ensure a high level contest and give it everything they’ve got.
The classic Easter contest will attract national and international skiers and snowboarders, freeriders and slopestylers.
They are looking for the ultimate ‘ruler of the hill’ and there’s lots of prizes and a sensational overall prize money of 9000 Euros.
Prizes like this attract riders from Germany, Romania, Sweden and Australia, who have all announced their arrival for the competition. Even Nico Zacek (GER), the most successful German freeskier, will be competing along with hot Australian candidates such as Steve Gruber and Patrick Hollaus.
More Australian freeskiers and snowboard lovers like Christoph Sollner, Dynastar International team member, and Patrick Koller will honour the Volvo X OVER RIDE with their visit.
The set up of the Central Park is currently armed for the high level of tricks and manoeuvres that are expected from these international sports stars. This week, mellow Constructions CEO Tommy Marsh is putting the finishing touches to the Central Park for the slopestyle contest on Easter Sunday.
Along with all this, the spectators will also have a chance to be active themselves by testing out the newest freestyle and freeride skis and snowboards. They can also take part in the daily Pro Style Sessions or the Almdudler Ride With Style contest.
There’s even a prize for the best outfit under the fantastic theme of ‘How would a freeskier have looked 50 years ago?’ The best historic outfit and the best trick will be awarded with an overall prize money of 2000 Euros.
The winners will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday evening with parties and award ceremonies, and punk rock bands Multiball and Slimboy as well as Bostons’ punk reggae combo Jaya the Cat. Guests can also expect drinks and a whole host of excellent DJs.
