Standing tall: Austria’s biggest Superpipe on the Kitzsteinhorn!
While most skiing resorts are still waiting to be covered in heavenly white, the Kitzsteinhorn already offers fast slopes and a perfect snowpark since October. With the beginning of December, Austria’s biggest and best Superpipe is finally ready for all freestyle maniacs, too. As an early Christmas present for all snowboarders and freeskiers, this masterpiece of park design let jaws drop already at the first international half-pipe contest on the Kitzsteinhorn.
Its gigantic dimensions of 160 meters length and 6.30 meters height, designed according to American standards, make the Superpipe the unmistakable highlight of the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn. For the construction of the pipe, “Pipe Master” Alli Zehentner was recruited to support park designer Stefan Plattner in the endeavor. He has also been engaged for the Olympia Pipe constructions 2014 in Sotchi and is internationally regarded as a true master in his field.
As soon as it had been opened, the Superpipe already became the location of an international FIS half- pipe contest, which also counted as a qualification contest for the Youth Olympic Games 2012. The Kitzsteinhorn Superpipe proved to be a perfect stage for the international field of riders, and everyone was truly impressed by its perfect shape.
You got the pow(d)er: The Kitzsteinhorn has an offer you can’t beat for children and adolescents: At the “Power of Zehn”, all children and adolecents under 19 get the day ticket for unbeatable 10 Euros!
Each pipe has to be cleaned regularly, so head off to the top and drop in!
