A good snowpark and shredding go together like butter and popcorn. But what else do you need to spend a fine day on the mountain? Exactly, you need shred buddies, with whom you can share your tricks and the joy of riding. We met some guys from the scene at the latest film- and photo shooting in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and found out what makes a good community.Photo: Marco Freudenreich
To snowboard you need certain things, such as a good ski resort with a well-shaped snowpark, which offers obstacles with many variations. Also, you need the right skill set to shred those obstacles. But there is one thing, that sets snowboarding apart, and that’s the bond between you and your shred-buddies – your community. We came across a very special freestyle community at the latest film- and photo shooting at the Freestyle Circus. Snowboarder Fabian Fradl raves about the park: “In the park in Serfaus everybody knows everybody, which makes it feel like a family. You can always go up alone and still be very likely to meet familiar faces.”Photo: Roland Haschka
It takes one thing in particular to establish and maintain a good community, and that thing is a good snowpark. Under the motto Feel Free, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis actually offers more than one! While beginner- and medium riders feel at home at the Fun-Area Fiss-Ladis, pros appreciate the Freestyle-Circus. Above all, the community is thrilled by the reliable creativity of park designer Fritz Gram and his boys. “My biggest compliment goes out to the whole shape crew. Before planning new obstacles they always ask the riders about their wishes and suggestions for improvement. I prefer jibbing the rails, but the kickers in Serfaus are also awesome. Air junkies can definitely have a great time there.” Fabian explains.Arnold von Gimborn. Photo: Roland Haschka
Snowboard pro Michael Macho, the two time silver medalist at the Big Air World Cup and frequent visitor at the Freestyle Circus, agrees: ‘The park in Serfaus is extremely long and holds many jib-features and, this season, also two really good jumps. The shapers here are very creative and build some sick stuff.’ Hence, it is definitely a snowpark every freestyler should visit at least once per season.Marvin Salmina. Photo: Roland Haschka
