Last years tour winners White n’ Bright

Park City, USA – March 3rd, 2008: Park City in Utah, USA is preparing for the second last Five Star event of the Tour. The Swatch TTR FIVE(5)STAR World Superpipe Championships taking place March 8th 2008 is soon to welcome the best Halfpipe riders currently in the game as they compete for 850 TTR ranking points and a share of the $90 000 USD prize purse.

The Park City Mountain Resort is pulling out all the stops, constructing one of the biggest and best pipes in the world. Shaped by their state-of-the-art Zaug Pipecutter, the 22-foot Superpipe is sure to host some highly progressive riding with 17 male and 10 female high-profile shredders aiming for the Title and looking to earn as many points as possible as the Tour approaches the final stretch.

Kevin Pearce and Shaun White will be battling close for the Halfpipe Title, as Pearce looks to extend his current hold on the tour lead and keep White at bay. White, with only two TTR results this season so far will be sure to lay it all on the line as it’s possible for him to still post six Top results and defend his 06/07 TTR Tour Championship Title. Pearce and White fought to a climactic finish at the SIX(6)STAR Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland, with Pearce emerging victorious after his final run. Pearce will remain Swatch TTR World No.1 for the time being, with
White able to sneak into the TTR Top 40. Park City will no doubt witness a display of incredible halfpipe prowess from these two Top transition riders.

Peetu Piiroinen from Finland has been chalking up consistent podium results throughout the entire 07/08 TTR season and another podium finish here will keep him at TTR World No. 3. US rider Andy Finch, Halfpipe Title winner at the Swatch TTR SIX(6)STAR O’Neill Evolution, will also remain in his position of TTR World No. 4. Finnish Rider Janne Korpi will be looking for a place in the TTR Top 10 as Mason Aguirre (USA) and Markus Keller (SUI) attempt to reach the TTR Top 15.

Top female Halfpipe snowboarders Torah Bright (AUS), winner of the 06/07 TTR Tour Championship Title, and Kelly Clark (USA), Olympic Halfpipe Gold Medalist, will also be battling close in Park City for TTR World No. 1. Clark will have to win the Swatch TTR FIVE(5)STAR World Superpipe Championships with Bright placing 4th or lower in order for Clark to move up to TTR World No. 1. Ellery Hollingsworth (USA) will also be competing in Park City for a spot in the TTR Top 10.

With just a few more opportunities to earn high amounts of TTR ranking points, the chase for the 07/08 Swatch TTR Tour Championship and chunk of the $250 000 end- of-season prize purse rages on.
