K2 will be celebrating a quarter century this spring by holding a banked slalom shindig in Ifen, Kleinwalsertal, Austria on April 6 2013, and want you and your homies to be part of the party.
K2 Snowboarding was born in the US Pacific Northwest in 1987. Back then snowboarding was in its infancy, and the Northwest became known as the underground outpost for a sport still trying to define itself. With a culture as hardcore as the terrain being ridden, the legendary banked slaloms were contemporary witnesses of that time and venues of the gnarliest riders.
In its 25th anniversary year, K2 Snowboarding wants to pick up the spirit of that time and present the K2 KRANKED SLALOM on the 6th of April 2013, together with the partners Kleinwalsertal Tourismus, Bergbahnen Kleinwalsertal and Auenhütte. What could be more obvious than hosting that competition in the birthplace of the Banked Masters in Europe, at Hoher Ifen in Kleinwalsertal/ Austria.
With the K2 KRANKED SLALOM K2 will combine traditional formats with modern day snowboarding. A banked slalom course, peppered with freestyle elements will bring big smiles to all participants. K2 KRANKED is a contest format, where style, tech and time counts and teams of 3 will battle against each other for the glorious K2 KRANKED axe. The winning team carries away an elooa Japan Powder Adventure! In the end it all comes down to the spirit of K2, having a good time together with your friends on the mountain!
A birthday wouldn´t be much fun without a big party, therefore K2 KRANKED is not over when the contest is finished. In a huge tent area, K2 welcomes all friends of the sport, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Live bands and DJs will make the crowd dance and party from dusk till dawn. A separate heated sleeping tent offers a simple accommodation and will pick up tired party folks.
K2 welcomes everybody to join this unique event and celebrate the roots of snowboarding – Seek & Enjoy!
