The Mile High and Stylewars have joined together to make the Australian Pro Tour – both are open slopestyle 4-star World Snowboard Tour events with a combined prize pool of $40,000US. Register using the link at the bottom, but you MUST do so before August 10 if you want to take part…
The tour starts in Thredbo, NSW with The Mile High from the 27 – 29 August and finishes in Falls Creek, Victoria with Stylewars, The Australian Slopestyle Championships from the 3 – 5 September.
Stylewars has been the premiere event in Australia for over 10 years now, which has attracted the biggest names in world snowboarding to Australia. The organisers of the event have decided to create a new event for 2012, The Mile High in order to make the trip to Australia that much more worthwhile for riders on The World Snowboard Tour. With 2 events and double the prize money and points allocation Australia is now a much more valuable destination on the tour than past years and if the history of Stylewars is anything to go by both events should be world class and entertaining for all riders.
Both events will be run in a very similar jam format to past Stylewars events with a few new twists added in. All riders in both male and female divisions will compete mixed together as one field and riders who are deemed unworthy will be taken out of the field throughout the sessions. The fields will be reduced daily to a final 20 for a 1-hour jam final. Both events will have slightly different formats that will be posted to the event’s websites and published on the World Snowboard Tour site closer to the start dates.
The Australian Pro-Tour is presented by Carlton Dry and sponsored by Burton Snowboards.
Registration closes on the 10th August so register now through both sites.
